Community Projects
Having worked as Head of Creative Engagement at an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation for 3 years, I am passionate about maintaining my work within the community, especially working with disadvantaged young people. I think that it is paramount for everyone to have access to the arts and have experience working in schools, SEN schools, PRU's and prisons. Since then I have continued my work within the community with a strong eco focus in my freelance work. If you have an idea of a project that you'd like to run, please get in touch.
Sustainable Mural, Springwell Academy, Bradford
In this 6 week mural project, over 30 young people in Bradford between the ages of 6 and 16 we're involved in this Mural at Springwell Academy based on UN sustainable goals. The project was young person led and we arranged litter picking outings as a part of the sessions.
Plastic-Free Me
From 2017 - 2022 I ran co founded and ran Plastic-Free Me CIC, a not for profit spreading awareness about the running workshops and talks in schools and at events. With a focus on engaging people through the arts, I also worked on creative packs, social media, interviews, pr and marketing.
The Forever Octopus, available for bookings
The Forever Octopus is made up of 4 weeks worth of single use plastics based on your average individual. It was built by a group of 15 young people on our Plastic-free Youth course (Plastic-Free Me), funded by the Big Lottery, a 6 week member lead course. It was first displayed at the Human Aquarium Exhibition 2019 by Yorkshire Life Aquatic, Leeds City Centre and since then has been on tour to 4 festivals across the UK. Table Top Mural, Springwell Academy, Bradford
For this project I ran another mural project with Springwell, young person lead, where they painted a table top which was then resined. I also did a mosaic and other making techniques with them on this mural.
